Wine lovers are in for a treat as Wine Australia in partnership with Dan Murphy's, present the inaugural Women in Wine event, the finale to April’s Aussie Wine Month celebrations.The night will see some of Australia’s finest wines, winemakers, sommeliers and viticulturists come together in honour of the achievements of women in the Australian wine industry.More than 80 wines will be available for tasting, along with great experiences, such as the Dan Murphy’s Winemakers’ Bar and Easy Entertaining Workshops, the Winemakers’ Regional Experiences Bar, The Sommeliers’ Garden, The Viticulturists’ Science Station and the Riedel Bar.Chefs will be serving a range of food including hand rolled gnocchi with locally sourced mushrooms and a variety of handmade sliders from chorizo and iceberg to pakora with cucumber and cumin yoghurt. Other food stations will feature Ploughman’s boards offering duck pate crostini, terrines, Maffra cheddar and Milawa washed rind.At the Gaggenau kitchen join Lauren Murdoch, Head Chef at 3 Weeds in Rozelle for cooking demonstrations, thanks to the Citibank Dining Program.Some of Australia’s finest female winemakers are set to showcase their premium wines including; Emma Bowen of Bowen Wines, Penny Jones from Petaluma, Maxine Harris from Jansz, Clare Halloran from Tarrawarra and Rebekah Richardson from Orlando Wines. Stellar viticulturists such as Prue Henshke from Henschke Wines, Liz Riley from Scarborough and Rachel Steer from Chapel Hill will be on-hand guiding guests through the science of wine. While female sommeliers from some of Australia’s most awarded restaurants including; Emma Plumridge from Rockpool, and Sarah Limacher, Group Sommelier for the Keystone Group, will discuss wine and food matching.Four of Australia’s most recognised female winemakers will be pouring their wines and talking to guests at the Dan Murphy’s Winemakers’ Bar. Wine enthusiasts can meet; Katherine Brown from Brown Brothers, Janice McDonald of Burch Family Wines, Corrina Wright of Oliver’s Taranga and Rebecca Willson of Bremerton.Alongside the Winemaker’s Bar, Dan Murphy’s will be hosting Easy Entertaining Workshops, sharing tips on how the professionals make entertaining stylish and easy without breaking the bank - or spending hours preparing! The expert panel includes some of Australia’s most talented women; SBS Food Safari host, Maeve O’Meara; Dan Murphy’s Wine expert Sharyn Foulis and Dig&Fish event guru, Caroline Ryan. They will give guests a 40 minute crash course on the secrets of entertaining with ease.
