WORKSHOP | MARK TWEEDIE

Understand the process of building a face through a series of acrylic based techniques incorporating glazing and tonal activities. This intimate and informal workshop commences with an artist talk, with Mark providing an insight into his practice and techniques; followed by a practical component. Participants are encouraged to explore an expressive approach to painting and step outside of their comfort zones.
Black Swan Prize is proud to present this workshop by 2018 Black Swan Prize finalist, Mark Tweedie as part of this year’s community program.
About the artist:
Mark Tweedie is a Western Australian figurative artist whose work is characterised by themes of family, memory, and ageing. He is particularly interested in exploring formative childhood years, lineage, and domestic life.
Mark has been a finalist in prominent national art prizes including the Blake Prize, the Kilgour Prize,and in 2016 was awarded the Black Swan Prize’s inaugural Tony Fini Foundation Artist Prize. Earlier this year, Mark completed a residency in Glaziers Bay, Tasmania,and held a successful solo exhibition, Births, Deaths & Marriages, in Sydney, New South Wales.
